1. What is the Undergraduate Assistant Work Study Program?

This is a financial aid program intended to help students with financial need cover expenses that have not been met by other funding options. This program gives you the opportunity to work part-time on campus during the academic year and offers many advantages including:

  • making the most of your time on campus
  • flexible hours
  • work related to your area of study
  • valuable experience working in a post-secondary environment

2. How much can I earn?

You may earn up to $1800.00 per academic year. The hours can be flexible, 5 to 14 (maximum) hours per week, up to a total maximum of 145 hours in the fall/winter (October to March) semester. The hourly rate of pay is $12.00 per hour, plus 4% vacation pay.


3. Who is eligible for this program?

To be eligible for this program you must meet the following criteria

  • be enrolled full-time (60% course load in the Fall and Winter sessions or 40% course load for a student with a permanent disability);
  • be making satisfactory academic progress (ie., not on academic warning or probation); and
  • have applied for financial assistance through Alberta Student Finance or through your home province and/or demonstrate financial need based on criteria established by Student Awards Office.

4. How do I apply?

The Application form for the Undergraduate Assistant Work Study Program is available online or can be picked up from the Student Awards and Financial Aid Office (E102). If you meet the financial criteria and are approved for this program you will receive a Certificate of Approval from the Awards Office. You can then check out the job(s) that you are interested in and set up an interview with the Project Supervisor.

Please Note: Student Awards and Financial Aid will begin accepting applications for 2010/2011 August 1, 2010.
