Requirements
We strongly recommend that the Residential Decorating courses be completed in the sequence listed in the schedule chart above in order to receive the most benefit from each individual course.

Earning Your Extension Certificate
Complete the eight required courses (136 hours) plus a portfolio assessment.

Career Outlook
Completion of the Residential Decorating Extension Certificate may lead to an entry-level position in retail sales or interior decorating depending on personal and professional suitability for the field.

Perspective Drawing
Expand your interior decorating skills by improving your ability to visually represent objects and furnishings realistically within an interior space. Draw one-point and two-point perspectives. 
Supplies: List provided upon registration.
Note: If you are new to perspective drawing you may choose to take Perspective Drawing Made Simple (XIDA 10027, below) instead of this course.

Perspective Drawing Made Simple    NEW!
Perspective drawing skills are essential to the residential decorator. If you are new to perspective drawing or your technique is a little rusty, this course guides you through one-point and two-point perspective and helps you to visually represent objects and furnishing in a design plan.
Note: This course may take the place of Perspective Drawing (XIDA 10002, above) in earning your certificate.

Materials for Window Treatments and Soft Furnishings
Review popular styles of window treatments and soft furnishings, properties of fabrics and estimating techniques. Take function, aesthetics and budget into consideration when selecting materials. Gain experience while determining selection, installation and cost of various treatments. Learn about window types as well as the advantages and disadvantages of different window treatments.

Apply your residential decorating skills and knowledge gained throughout the program. Further your understanding of paper drawings, documentation and developing an overall concept. You are required to apply the concepts and practical skills attained in previous courses to accurately develop and present your final project.
Prerequisite: Successful completion of the previous seven Residential Decorating courses.
